- Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day!
-
Who doesn't love ice-cream? How about free delicious tasting ice cream? We all scream for ice-cream and Ben & Jerry's is here to help us all out by giving away free scoops of ice-cream at select locations! Go ahead, indulge and click on their site to see the closest participating store near you. Next month marks the 30th Anniversary of their first shop. With a $12,000 investment ($4,000 of it borrowed), Ben and Jerry open their Ben & Jerry’s Homemade ice cream scoop shop in a renovated gas station at the corner of St. Paul and College Streets in downtown Burlington, Vermont, on May 5.
You can also spread the sweet word and let your friends know that they should leave class, work, get off the couch or whatever they may be doing on this fine Tuesday to get some goods via this Facebook application. It's better that they do this promotion now before bikini season really hits. Not that I will be putting down my pint of Ben & Jerry's for the sake of a beach bod. Chocolate Fudge Brownie is way too delicious.

- Pass-Over The Macaroons
-
Passover starts at sundown this Saturday and although I do no celebrate this holiday, I have a friend who informed me of all the macaroon goodness that he will be indulging in this weekend. These desserts are perfect since they are flourless. Matzo is another staple food. I love Matzo ball soup. I used to make it all the time. One time, my friend thought that we could maybe speed up the process of rolling it into little balls to just making two giant ones. It wasn't such a great idea. I suspect that is why they have those specific directions of making twelve little balls. Ok, back to Passover food goodness.
Another acceptable food for Passover that I love is the potato knish. It's just another one of those potato foods I love. I recently had a mushroom knish from Yonah Schimmel Knishes in the lower east side of Manhattan. I highly recommend it as a good foodie stop if you are in the NYC area. Of course you can just order a knish from one of the infamous NYC food carts but Yonah Schimmel Knishes are nothing like those.
Although I won't be celebrating Passover with a traditional Seder meal, I just may have to stop by Yonah's for a quick bite. If you have other yummy Passover delights, let me know.

I came across a very interesting promotion for beef lovers and just had to blog about it. I mean, it's not often that you run across something that out right promotes the consumption of beef. It's just a little (and I use "little" loosely) more unethical to talk about eating animals than it does to talk about eating those healthy greens and veggies. Maybe it's just me, but I just don't see too many ads promoting beef so when I came across this, I began thinking about all the backlash that PETA will be bringing. And then I began to think about all the videos that people will be making to win this contest and that was much more amusing to think about. The 2008 Beef Ambassadors have launched the "More BEEF in More Places" contest where beef lovers are encouraged to show their enjoyment of beefy dishes with family and friends at home, gatherings, and/or restaurants in a video contest. Prizes include an Apple iTouch. For more info on this contest and who the National Beef Ambassadors are, visit Raise the Steaks.
I smell some interesting videos heading YouTubes way. What do you think of this promotion? Are you interested in participating in it?
