Balcony Grilling

It's a balmy 12 degrees here in New York, but that's not stopping me from thinking about grilling.  Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow will keep me from my appointed pork grilling!  Henrik-Drecker is taking grilling to the next level and opening the experience of grilling your own food up to anyone and everyone, including those of you who live in apartments (myself included)!

They have designed a flower box style grill made to fit over a balcony or fire escape railing.  It's not large enough to grill up a huge rack of ribs, but it can definitely handle a couple of chops/steaks.  The downside? The grills are not for sale yet, but keep an eye out because this is guaranteed to become a hot seller in cities where apartment dwellers are the majority.

I'm lucky enough to have a pseudo-balcony in my apartment which we affectionately call a "Puerto Rican Patio."  It's essentially a shared fire escape that doesn't have any stairs or ladders.  The hubby and I have a small Smokey Joe Weber that we use fairly frequently, but hey there's always room for one more on the patio!  Smile

the smokey joe rocks... just a tad worried that some overzealous neighbor is going to think the building is on fire. Laughing

Does Fire-Escape grilling work?

Fire escape grilling works great!  As long as you don't have neighbors who rat you out to the FDNY.  Laughing  However, even if you do, I find BBQ bribery very effective.
