Best Foodie Cities

In an article recently in Forbes, they explored the best Foodie Cities in the World and came up with a Top 10 list. In a time when many of the people in their research cited 'dining' as a reason for a vacation, the presence of a strong foodie experience is becoming increasingly important in travel destinations.

How did the chosen cities crack the Top 10? Their criteria for being the best is described as follows:

""A foodie city has a good mix of restaurants--some with an international reputation and that are true classics, others that are excellent but that people may not have heard of," says Martin Rapp, senior vice president of leisure at Altour International, a New York and Los Angeles luxury travel consultancy. "It has food markets that sell produce as well as local products, such as oil and cheeses. It also has good artisanal bakeries."

The Top 10:

  • London
  • Singapore
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles
  • Paris
  • Bologna, Italy
  • Palermo, Sicily
  • Barcelona
  • Sydney
  • NYC

Some of these are pretty obvious to me, but I'm still scratching my head over others. Have you all dined in these cities? Would you count them amongst your favorites? If you could have a week of food in one city what would it be?

Name the foodie destinations from left to right, clockwise as a comment below (without cheating and reading the article!) and you will have impressed me beyond belief...
