Fast Food

In a society of instant gratification, good food is usually the one thing you still have to wait for, but not if TurboChef has anything to say about it!  They have created an oven which can perfectly roast a 3.5 lb chicken in only 14 minutes.  We're talking golden brown, juicy and thoroughly cooked!  How do they do it?  They use some layering of microwave, convection, steam and infrared technologies, which provides even cooking, moistness and browning, all at high speed.  You can even cook a moist and delicious souffle in 2 minutes, which is absolutely amazing because it takes me two minutes just to make Jello pudding!  The TurboChef oven is not cheap though, and will set you back about $6K for the high speed oven (solo) and almost $8k for a combo high speed/conventional oven.

I have to say, being able to roast a chicken in less than 15 minutes seems pretty cool to me.  It would make the come home from work and start cooking routine quicker, easier and far more productive than my current situation.  However, I am not so sure I'd be willing to spend $6k on an oven just to save myself time on cooking, especially since I currently put that extra time to good use with a bottle of wine and conversation.  Smile
