About Me

To express my interest in food with others.

Interests

Tasting menus. I love tasting menus matched with wine. I think it's the best way to know a restaurant and a Chef's cuisine is by tasting as much of it as you can without hitting your wallet too badly with serveral trips to the same restaurant.

What I'm Listening to

Coldplay, Radiohead, Band of Horses, Matt Pond, and other assorted independent bands.

Favorite Foods

Anything that tastes good and is prepared well

What I'm Watching

Iron Chef America, Malto Mario, hell's Kitchen, Rachael Ray, and Martha Stewart

Tastiest Libations

Mojitos, Caipirinha or excellent wine

Favorite Restaurants

Jean Georges, Michel Bras, and I so badly want to go to Per Se

Favorite Website Online

www.danielnyc.com

Most coveted item

Excellent Wine like a 1978 Chateaux Reyes Chateneauf de Pape

The Saga Continues...

Yet another episode of "Hell's Kitchen" ends and another hope filled chef of becoming Gordon Ramsay's next prized chef, bites the dust.  I'd have to agree with the decision of last nights episode and Joanna did deserve to leave.  Kudos to Jen for owning up to her mistake in front of Chef Ramsay, though I can't say what she did was much better, but rancid crab does have the potential to kill someone or it can make them seriously sick, like Chef Ramsay said.  The fact that Joanna didn't apologize for her mistake makes it worse, in my opinion and also it proves the fact that she's unremorseful and not obligated to apologize for such a blunder, which to me is a bad character flaw.  Honestly, if you're handling food or ingredients and can't smell it as you plate the food, then you have no reason to be in a high caliber restaurant.  Cooking is about the senses, including common, and if you don't have it, then as Gordon Ramsay says, "piss off".  Confidence is important to have in an industry that has little to no reward, but when it borders on arrogance, then issues arise and the quality of food you produce will suffer as well.  I also think the way that the red team judge the waffle house cook (I forget her name..sorry) is ridiculous.  Everyone has strengths and being a great breakfast chef is not an easy task.  How quickly they forget who was the lead contributor to the red team for winning that days challenge.

Anywho, I will stop ranting about the episode; I just wanted to give my opinion of the episode and I thank you for reading.

PS - One last point/note is that I am glad to see Aaron (I think that's his name) not come back.  That dude was pitiful and I was surprised he lasted this long.
