This past weekend I went to Lorely Restaurant on 7 Rivington in the LES because I was excited to learn that there was a beautiful beer garden... or biergarten, in Manhattan and German food :)

I've only gone to the big (or big for NYC) biergarden in Astoria once and that was fun. Biergartens are designed so that people can meet and chat with strangers sitting side by side on long wooden benches drinking beer on long wooden tables. Lorely's patio was smaller but a great setting nonetheless.

I ordered a weiner schnitzel with fries (since the fries were highly recommended by a long time Lorely fan) and both were amazing! I've always wanted to try that and I'm glad I did. It was breaded and fried pork, very yummy. Next, I'm going to have to try a sausage platter.

I didn't know what beer to order since they had so much and of course I wanted a real German dining experience so I asked the waiter to recommend one. If you are confused as to which beer to order, you too should ask the waiter because he can recommend one right off the bat depending on your mood for a light or dark lager or wheat beer amongst many other options.

There are just a couple more German restauarants in the city but this one has the best biergarten... or so I've heard. 2 thumbs up from me :)
